Collaborative Law
Collaborative Law is a form of dispute resolution where both parties have their own attorney to look after their individual interests, but those attorneys agree not to go to court. Instead, the goal of the Collaborative Law process is to help the parties reach agreement through negotation and the open sharing of information.
In Collaborative Law, the parties work with a team that, in addition to individual attorneys, may include divorce coaches, child specialists, financial neutrals, or other professionals with specific training in mediation and collaboration. These neutral professionals provide a couple with impartial information to enable them to make informed agreements.
I believe that couples who can work together can craft more creative solutions that best suit their own unique needs and circumstances. For couples with children, choosing a Collaborative Law process or mediation can set the stage for a more positive co-parenting relationship that benefits all parties into the future.
